Children's Liturgy of the Word
All St. Jude parish families with children in Pre-K through 5th grade are warmly invited to participate in our Children's Liturgy of the Word during the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass.
This special ministry gives children the opportunity to experience God's Word in a way that is engaging, age-appropriate, and meaningful. At the beginning of the Liturgy of the Word, children are invited to process with our trained catechists to the school atrium where they hear the Sunday Scripture readings and Gospel presented in language they can understand. Through prayer, discussion, and simple reflections, they discover how God's message applies to their everyday lives.
After the Children's Liturgy of the Word concludes, the children return to the church and rejoin their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The Liturgy of the Eucharist is the core of the Mass. The gifts of bread and wine are brought to the altar and we give thanks to God. The gifts of bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ and those who are prepared to do receive Holy Communion.
Our Children's Liturgy of the Word helps young disciples:
- Grow in their understanding of Sacred Scripture
- Participate more fully and confidently in the Mass
- Build a foundation for a lifelong relationship with Jesus
- Experience the joy of learning and praying with other children in our parish community
Whether your family is new to St. Jude or has been attending Mass for years, we invite your children (or grandchildren) to come and encounter God's Word in a welcoming, faith-filled environment. Everyone is welcome!

Please note that the Children’s Liturgy of the Word is not held on Sundays when there are no Religious Education classes being held, or over the summer months. Please refer to the Weekly Class Schedule for available date.
